The Ejiro & Otive Igbuzor Foundation has sustained its over 20-year tradition of promoting educational excellence through its Annual Scholarship Programme by awarding scholarships to 30 outstanding primary school pupils in Delta State.
The beneficiaries were selected from Agambi Primary School, Eku; Ugono Primary School, Ugono-Orogun; and Emonu Primary School, Emonu-Orogun. Ten pupils—comprising the best-performing boy and girl in each class—were selected from each school and awarded ₦15,000 each. The Foundation also provided token support to teachers in recognition of their contributions to promoting academic excellence.
The scholarship awards were successfully presented at Ugono Primary School and Emonu Primary School. However, the presentation at Agambi Primary School could not take place because some of the selected pupils were unavailable. The awards will be presented when the pupils resume for the next academic term.
The three schools were selected as beneficiaries as part of the Foundation’s commitment to giving back to the communities that contributed to shaping the lives, values, and achievements of its leaders.
Speaking during the programme, the Scholarship Programme Coordinator, Mr. Foster Akpore, congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged pupils who were not selected to remain committed to their studies and strive for academic excellence.
«“This scholarship is a reward for hard work and academic excellence. Those who were not selected should not be discouraged. Work harder, and your turn will surely come,” he said.»
Mr. Akpore further reminded the pupils that the remarkable achievements of Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Dr. (Mrs.) Ejiro Joyce Otive-Igbuzor, and Mr. Monday Osasah, FSM, were products of discipline, dedication, and hard work.
He conveyed the Foundation leaders’ message that they want the pupils not only to succeed but to surpass their achievements. He urged them to remain disciplined, take their education seriously, and avoid social vices and negative influences that could hinder them from attaining their full potential in life.
Mr. Onoghoro Fredrick, Headteacher of Ugono Primary School, thanked the Foundation for its generosity and prayed for God’s continued guidance, protection, and blessings upon its leadership and members.
Similarly, Mr. Akpore Augustine, Headteacher of Emonu Primary School, described the scholarship initiative as an important educational and motivational intervention that would encourage pupils to improve their academic performance.
Mrs. Grace Osadjoku of Emonu Primary School also commended the Foundation for investing in the education of young learners, noting that the initiative would inspire pupils to strive for excellence in their studies.
