The Okpara-Uku of Orogun Kingdom, Joseph Okorocha Emoghene Osuokpa I, has conferred chieftaincy titles on nine distinguished sons and daughters of the kingdom, in recognition of their service, character, and contributions to community development.

The ceremony, held at the royal palace in Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, drew traditional rulers, chiefs, community leaders, family members, and well-wishers from within and outside the kingdom.
Those honoured include Prof. Emmanuel Ofudjaye Ndakara, who was installed as Urhukperisi of Orogun Kingdom; Barr. Dennis Ojarikre Warri, who received the title of Ugherughe of Orogun Kingdom; Dr. (Mrs.) Joy Elohor Ndakara, who was conferred with the title of Obruche of Orogun Kingdom; and Mrs. Eguono Dennis-Warri, installed as Ayesiri of Orogun Kingdom.
Also installed were Mr. Moses Ejoh Ejakpovi as Abadi-Rode of Orogun Kingdom and Ambassador Frank Avwerosuoghene Ossai as Akpesiri of Orogun Kingdom.
Others are Mrs. Emoghene Elizabeth, honoured as Ejemoyovwi of Orogun Kingdom; Mrs. Esther Odjegba, installed as Ovieregheri of Orogun Kingdom; and Mrs. Patience Ejakpovi Ejoh, who received the title of Ivieovie of Orogun Kingdom.
Speaking at the ceremony, E. T. Opone, President General of Orogun Kingdom, described chieftaincy in Urhobo land in general and Orogun in particular, as a call to service rather than a ceremonial honour. He said he had no doubt in his mind that, having been found worthy, the newly installed chiefs would uphold the values of integrity, humility, and selfless service, noting that each title carries a moral obligation to protect the peace, culture, and unity of the kingdom.
He added that the palace had carefully observed the lives and contributions of the recipients before approving the honours, stressing that chieftaincy remains a sacred trust between the throne and the people.
The event featured traditional rites, prayers, and cultural displays, marking what many attendees described as a reaffirmation of Orogun’s enduring customs and collective responsibility to future generations.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included Chief Dominic Emoghene, the Omo Okpara-Uku; the Ekpara of Unukpo, Imodje, and Ogwa subclans; Chief Barr. Benson Ndakara, President General Emeritus of Orogun Kingdom; Chief Ominimini Obiuwevwi; Chief Barr. Andrew Orugbo; members of the Orogun Traditional Council of Chiefs; Chief Andrew Oviri, Onotu-Uku of Umusu; Chief Austin Oghenesivwohwo, Deputy President General of Orogun Kingdom, and others.
