Egbo Inaugurates 21-Member Advisory Committee, Reviews One Year in Office

The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Movudu Egbo, has inaugurated a 21-member Eminent Persons Advisory Committee, pledging to deepen development efforts in line with the MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Council Secretariat Hall in Ughelli, also featured Egbo’s briefing on his administration’s performance since assuming office one year ago.

Egbo described the inauguration as “historic,” noting that the advisory committee would serve as a guiding council on critical issues of governance and development.

In his review of one year in office, Egbo said his administration had completed the construction of the Tobore Oborevwori Medical Centre, now ready for commissioning, and delivered a twin courts building at Uduere-Agbarha Road, Ughelli. He noted that a new transformer had been installed in Abovwe community to boost electricity supply, while public schools across the LGA had received desks and furniture to improve learning conditions. He also announced a scholarship award to Master Wisdom Chibuzor Chukwuma of Government College, Ughelli, who represented Nigeria at a debate contest in Doha, Qatar.

Egbo explained that his administration had sustained regular environmental sanitation exercises, renovated a twin-storey building to house Operations Delta Safe, and commenced the construction of an ultra-modern secretariat complex. He further disclosed plans to provide free uniforms for indigent pupils, organise town hall meetings across the seven kingdoms of the LGA to engage youths on the dangers of drug abuse, and roll out an empowerment programme for 130 women, coordinated by his wife during the one-year anniversary celebrations.

In his acceptance speech, the Advisory Committee Chairman, Olorogun Obrik Miller Uloho, described the appointment of the 21 members as a “rare privilege” and pledged to work with the council to realise the vision of a “New Ughelli North.”

“We hope to serve with dedication and help the council achieve the expected positive results,” Uloho said.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the LGA, members of the 8th Legislative Assembly, APC elders, community leaders, Chief Opone, Chief Enakpodia, Chief Ejukonemu, and other dignitaries.
