Recalling the events of 1992, Dr. Igbuzor highlighted that it was General Gowon who, through the NYSC, sent Ejiro to him in Maiduguri, Borno State, far away from their respective hometowns. Remarkably, they had missed each other’s presence during their earlier school years.

Dr. Igbuzor attended Baptiste High School (also known as Agambi Grammar School) in Eku from 1976 to 1980, while Ejiro was enrolled in Agambi Primary School, located in the same town. Similarly, during the 1981 section, Dr. Igbuzor pursued his Higher School Certificate studies at the prestigious Government College, Ughelli, while Ejiro attended St. Theresa’s Grammar School in Ughelli. However, destiny had yet to bring them together.

It was the astute decision of General Gowon to establish the NYSC that eventually led to their fateful meeting. Dr. Igbuzor took the opportunity to appeal to Nigerians, urging them not to entertain any ideas of abolishing the NYSC program, as it played a crucial role in uniting him with his wife.

Delving deeper into their story, Dr. Igbuzor revealed his first encounter with Ejiro in 1992. In an unexpected twist of fate, Otive’s battle with a persistent and debilitating bout of malaria brought him into the path of Ejiro, a skilled microbiologist. Despite rarely falling sick, Otive found himself seeking medical assistance at the hospital where Ejiro worked.

Impressed by her expertise, care, focus, and consideration, Otive developed a deep admiration for Ejiro and expressed his interest in knowing her better. Initially, Ejiro turned down his advances, but with the encouragement of his friend Pato, who believed in their potential, Otive persevered. This fortuitous encounter and Otive’s unwavering determination eventually led to a beautiful union, as they bonded over their shared experience, professional admiration, and the support of a trusted friend.

At that time, Ejiro was writing a captivating story in a notebook. Impressed by her talent, Mr. Otive recognized her potential as a gifted writer and encouraged her to publish a book. Unfortunately, the publication never materialized, due to Ejiro’s perfectionist nature and her belief that her work was not good enough held her back.

However, in the 1990s, Mr. Igbuzor submitted one of Ejiro’s stories to a writing competition. To their delight, the story won third place in the art competition and was later published in a renowned literary journal called “Deadly Paradise.” This achievement sparked Ejiro’s writing journey, leading to the creation of numerous books and the initiation of Garls Hangout, a close story series Facebook Group primarily targeting girls and women.

The couple’s marriage has been a source of peace and harmony. Rarely encountering disagreements, their commitment to each other has remained steadfast throughout their 30-year union. Mr. Igbuzor attributed the success of their marriage to God’s grace, emphasizing the importance of unwavering commitment to each other and their dedication to open communication and compromise, key pillars in maintaining a harmonious relationship.

As Dr. Igbuzor reflects on their remarkable journey, he expresses his gratitude for the stability and love they have shared over the past 30 years. Their marriage stands as a testament to God’s grace and the profound impact of mutual respect and understanding. Together, they have overcome obstacles and celebrated triumphs, serving as an inspiration to others embarking on their own journey of love.

Dr. Igbuzor extended his good wishes to all couples, hoping that their marriages would be filled with joy, understanding, and a willingness to grow together. He emphasized the importance of commitment, communication, and compromise as the cornerstones of a peaceful and harmonious union. With a heartfelt toast, he celebrated the beauty of love and the blessings of a peaceful relationship.

Expressing his deep appreciation for his wife, Dr. Igbuzor thanked everyone for joining him in honoring the remarkable woman who has been his lifelong partner. He acknowledged the immense impact she has had on his life and the love she has brought into their relationship. Together, they eagerly embrace the future with open hearts, cherishing their commitment to nurturing their bond.

In conclusion, the story of Dr. Ejiro Otive-Igbuzor and her husband serves as a captivating testament to the power of fate, the importance of the NYSC program, and the strength of a love that endures.
