Centre LSD supports Gombe State in the Development of its OGP State Action Plan (SAP)

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under its project “Deepening Transparency and Accountability in the governance process through the implementation of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria” with support from MacArthur Foundation, on 17th May 2023 commenced the process of developing Gombe State Open Government Partnership State Action Plan to set the implementation of the partnership in the state underway.

A press statement released by the Program Coordinator of Centre LSD, Mr. Lawal Amodu, stated that the Co-creation principle of the OGP will be deployed to the process by bringing both the State and Non-State Actors to bring the action plan to life. Recall that the Centre provided a capacity building support to the actors to bring them up to speed on the details of the OGP. The three-day event according to him will dwell on developing the plan to its fullest and in a manner that leaves the State with a document to behold.

Gombe state is amongst the latest to sign up to the OGP in Nigeria with the intent to make governance process in the state open, transparent, and accountable to the needs of its citizens. The first towards achieving this, is the development of an action plan alongside and implementation plan. The OGP is governed by four key principles: Transparency, Accountability, Citizens Participation and Technology and Innovation.

The statement enjoined well-meaning citizens to engage the Centre LSD OGP Project through the various social media channels:
