Insecurity: Ethiope East Local Government Council Impose Curfew in Okpara Water Side and Ekpan Communities

The Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Rt Hon (Pharm) Ofobrukueta Victor, has taken decisive action in response to the recent uprisings in Okpara Water Side and Ekpan-Ovu Communities, which have tragically resulted in casualties.

In light of credible reports indicating an imminent threat to lives and properties, the situation has reached a critical point where the region is on the brink of anarchy. Opportunistic individuals have taken advantage of the unrest, blatantly disregarding the law and causing further chaos.

The local government administration, committed to upholding the safety and well-being of its residents, has initiated a comprehensive investigation to identify the root causes of this unfortunate incident. However, they cannot stand idly by as the situation deteriorates into lawlessness.

To ensure the restoration of peace, order, and the safeguarding of the community, the Ethiope East Local Government Council has officially declared the imposition of a curfew, effective immediately. The curfew will be in effect from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM daily until further notice.

All residents of Okpara Water Side and Ekpan communities are urged to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in enforcing this directive. Compliance with the curfew is of paramount importance to prevent any further harm or damage.

During the specified curfew hours, strict restrictions on movement, including vehicular and motorcycle traffic, will be implemented. However, individuals providing essential services, duly identified by valid ID cards, will be permitted to carry out their duties.

The Ethiope East Local Government Council sincerely regrets any inconveniences that may arise from this necessary measure. Your full compliance and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we work together to restore peace and ensure the safety of all residents.
