Ughelli, Delta State – October 2, 2025
The lawmaker representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Rev. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, has formally declared his intention to seek a third term in office.
Waive made the announcement yesterday while hosting over one thousand youth leaders and accredited delegates drawn from the 32 wards of the constituency under the platform of U3 Youths. The meeting, held in Ughelli on Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, served as a rallying point for party mobilisation and reflection on governance.

In his remarks, Waive praised the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as “transformative policies changing the country for the better.” He also lauded the performance of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, whom he hailed as “an action governor” delivering people-oriented projects.
The lawmaker, who has consistently emphasised accountability in representation, recalled his “Seven Covenants” with the people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency, which he pledged at the start of his legislative journey. These covenants, he noted, have guided his service and delivery over the past two terms.
Among them are: ensuring unfettered access to his office and voice in the House of Representatives, attracting federal presence through budgetary provisions, sponsoring relevant bills and motions, linking constituents with Ministries, Departments and Agencies for jobs and business opportunities, executing visible and valuable constituency projects, and defending the rights and liberties of his people.
Waive highlighted ongoing projects such as the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre and other federal interventions as proof of his commitment to those pledges.
Responding to his declaration, several speakers commended Waive’s representation, particularly his contributions to healthcare and infrastructure. A motion was subsequently moved and unanimously adopted, endorsing President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as sole candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, while also pledging support for Waive’s re-election bid.
The endorsement, observers noted, signalled confidence in Waive’s leadership and underscored a spirit of unity within the constituency as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle.
