The Unique Sound Minds Initiative, a political pressure group established to promote unity, grassroots mobilisation, and electoral alignment in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, was on Saturday officially launched at Otor-Udu, headquarters of the council area.

The event attracted political leaders, party faithful, traditional stakeholders, youths, women groups, and religious leaders from across the local government area.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the group, Olorogun Austin Emaduku, said the initiative was formed to address years of political division and leadership fragmentation in Udu, which he claimed had hindered the area’s political growth and denied the people the benefits of mainstream politics.

According to him, the organisation was not created to deepen political rivalries but to bridge divides among leaders and mobilise citizens around shared developmental interests.“We are not here to divide.

We are here to bridge. We are not here to encourage political leaders to fight themselves. We are here to encourage unity amongst them while rallying our people behind them for a common agenda,” he stated.

The group, which operates under the motto, “One People. One Purpose. One Voice,” said its activities would focus on grassroots mobilisation across the 32 communities, two satellite towns, 10 electoral wards, polling units, and households in Udu.

Emaduku added that the initiative would engage elders, youths, and women while simplifying political messages and party manifestoes to encourage wider civic participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The initiative, according to its charter, seeks to unite political leaders across party lines where common interests are involved, while promoting issue-based politics, electoral accountability, civic education, and non-violent political engagement.

Its mission also includes mobilising support for the re-election of RT. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis O. Oborewvori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ensuring electoral victory for candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.

Emaduku pledged that the group would respect the supremacy of the party and support candidates who emerge through recognised party processes.“To the people, we will educate, not incite. We will organise, not intimidate. We will push for issue-based politics, not personality cults,” he said.

The launch also featured the unveiling of the group’s charter, executive structure, and Council of Elders drawn from the 10 political wards in Udu Local Government Area.

Notable members of the Council of Elders include Richard Odibo, Eddie Ono-Sorhue, Austin Emaduku, John Olomu, Patrick Ariole, Saturday Mofoye, Henry Sakpra, Andrew Gbise and Queen Asaboro, among others.

The council, according to the group, is expected to provide guidance, strengthen grassroots engagement, and promote political reconciliation across the wards.

Among dignitaries present at the event were top government officials, federal and state lawmakers, party leaders, local government functionaries, community stakeholders, and political actors from across Delta State.
