Five decades of grace, family, leadership and love came together as Chief (Mrs.) Bridget Ese-Oghene Efe-Nogo, JP, marked her golden jubilee in Springfield.
Some birthdays are simply dates on the calendar. Others become occasions for family, friendship, reflection and celebration.
For Chief (Mrs.) Bridget Ese-Oghene Efe-Nogo, JP, 50 was all of these.
She turned 50 on September 4, 2026, and later marked the milestone with a grand reception on Saturday, September 26, at Christ The King, Springfield, Illinois. The celebration carried the theme, “Celebrating Five Decades of Grace, Impact & Leadership.”
Family, friends and associates gathered for an evening of tributes, music, cultural display, dancing, photographs and warm wishes.
But one of the evening’s memorable highlights came from the celebrant’s husband, Chief Do-Good O. Efe-Nogo, JP, the Traditional Prime Minister (Onotu-Uku) of Orogun Kingdom.
A GIFT WITH HER NAME ON IT
For his wife’s golden jubilee, Chief Efe-Nogo presented her with a 2014 Mercedes-Benz GL 450 4MATIC.
The gift came with a distinctive personal touch. Its personalised number plate read:
OVIE ‘RAYE
The name is significant.
Chief Mrs. Efe-Nogo was conferred with the chieftaincy title Ovie ‘Raye (queen) of Orogun Kingdom by HRM Omoefe Ozenikpe I, on April 10, 2023, at the Okpara-Uku’s Palace, Otorho-Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, in recognition of her contribution to the welfare and progress of Orogun Kingdom.
Her work as a Child Development Officer in the United States, her support for her husband and her contribution to the community were among the qualities cited during the conferment.
Three years later, the title found a place on the number plate of her 50th birthday gift.
It was an elegant personal detail at an already significant celebration.
FIVE DECADES OF GRACE
The birthday woman herself approached the milestone with reflection rather than nostalgia.
“At fifty, I’ve come to know and realized that life is not about perfection; it is about God’s Mercy and Grace,” she wrote.
Looking back, she described her journey as “fifty years of grace, strength, and joy,” marked by lessons, laughter and blessings.
She also reflected candidly on the younger woman she once was, including the anxieties, disappointments and personal struggles that shaped her.
With the perspective of age, she now sees resilience in that journey.
MAKING PEACE WITH TIME
One sentence from her reflection perhaps captures her philosophy at 50:
“Turning fifty isn’t about defying time; it’s about making peace with it.”
She sees scars as stories, tears as part of a deeper capacity for joy and grey hairs as reminders of survival and growth.
There is also a quiet confidence in the woman she has become.
She is, she says, softer in places where she once felt defensive and stronger where she once bent.
WHEN HER HUSBAND TOOK THE FLOOR
Chief Efe-Nogo had already celebrated his wife publicly with an affectionate birthday tribute.
“Happy 50th birthday to the love of my life. To my gorgeous wife, 50 looks stunning on you,” he wrote.
He continued:
“I love you more today than on our wedding day. I celebrate the woman in you.”
He affectionately addressed her as “My Achulugo, Lolo Chief Mrs Bridget Ese-Oghene Efe-Nogo, JP,” and wished her continued joy and fulfilment.
The Mercedes-Benz presentation at the reception added another personal dimension to his tribute.
AN EVENING OF TRIBUTES
The reception itself unfolded in the warm, familiar rhythm of a family milestone.
Guests arrived for cocktails and small chops before the formal programme began. There were goodwill messages, family tributes, video presentations, a cultural display and musical interludes.
Among those who paid tribute to the celebrant were Kevwe Akpore, Dr. Mrs. Nkechi Obiora, Kenneth Erewele, Dr. Mrs. Bose Alfred and Mrs. Omonorho Uwanogho, among others.
The cake-cutting ceremony and toast marked the golden milestone, followed by the celebrant’s dance, family dance and presentation of gifts.
Later, music, dancing, photographs and conversation carried the celebration towards midnight.
THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE JOURNEY
In her personal reflection, Chief Mrs. Efe-Nogo reserved a special word for those who have shared her journey.
“To everyone who has loved me, challenged me, held my hand in the dark, or danced with me in the light, thank you. You are woven into this landmark moment.”
It was perhaps the most fitting description of the evening.
A milestone birthday may have one name on the invitation, but behind it are decades of relationships, family memories, friendships, challenges and shared experiences.
A NEW CHAPTER
Her birthday prayer was simple and expansive. She asked for all-round favour, unending peace, perfect health, endless blessings and boundless joy.
Then she signed off her reflection with a declaration:
“Happy 50th birthday to me. Stronger and wiser than ever.”
For Chief Mrs. Bridget Ese-Oghene Efe-Nogo, JP, the golden jubilee became a celebration of where she has been, who has walked with her and the grace she believes has carried her through five decades.
