OROGUN CULTURAL DAY CELEBRATION TO TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 22

The people of Orogun kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State are gearing up to celebrate their annual cultural day on Saturday April 22, 2023. This day is an important event on the community’s calendar as it is a time when the people come together to showcase their rich cultural heritage and traditions.

The Orogun cultural day celebration according to the Omo Okpara-Uku, Chief Emmanuel Omoefe “is a day set aside to celebrate the culture, customs, and traditions of the Orogun people. It is a day of feasting, dancing, music, and various cultural displays. The event will be held at the Orogun Town and will be open to everyone who wants to experience the richness of Orogun culture.”

The event will feature homage to the Okpara-Uku of Orogun, HRM Omoefe Ozenikpe 1,  a parade to the Erose Efe shrine,  traditional dances by the Ukere dance troupe, music performances, and cultural displays. The Orogun people will showcase their unique attires, food, and traditional crafts. There will also be a display of local artworks and artifacts.

According to the President General of Orogun, Chief Barr. Benson Ndakara, “The Orogun cultural day celebration is an opportunity for us to celebrate and showcase our rich cultural heritage and promote peace and unity within our community. It is a day that we look forward to every year, and we are excited to invite everyone to join us in celebrating our culture.”
