Efe-Nogo Strengthens Police-Community Ties, Visits Ughelli Area Commander

Community relations and security cooperation took centre stage on Thursday as the Onotu-Uku of Orogun Kingdom, Chief Do-Good O. Efe-Nogo (JP), paid a courtesy visit to the Area Commander of the Ughelli Area Command, ACP Aliyu Shaba.

Chief Efe-Nogo, a United States Army veteran and respected community leader, was accompanied by a high-powered delegation that included CSP George Omunu, the Divisional Police Officer of Orogun; Chief O.J. Orogun (JP), the Otota of the Orogun Traditional Council of Chiefs; Chief John Agabi, Secretary of the Orogun Traditional Council; and Chief Cecilia Kaine.

Speaking during the visit, Chief Efe-Nogo recalled how, while in the United States, he read about ACP Shaba’s familiarisation visit to Orogun Kingdom, where the Area Commander met with the Okpara-Uku of Orogun, HRM Joseph Okorocha Emoghene Osuokpa I, and the President General, Chief (Barr.) E.T. Opone and other members of the community.

“I thought it necessary to reciprocate this gesture,” Efe-Nogo said. “This visit is to further cement the cordial relationship between the police and Orogun community in line with the Nigerian Police Force’s mandate to prevent and combat crime.”

In his response, ACP Shaba lauded the Onotu-Uku’s gesture, describing it as a demonstration of civic partnership and shared vision for peace. He emphasized that security is the foundation of progress.

“When there is peace and security, the next thing that follows is development,” Shaba said. “Investors will come. It is my prayer that not only Ughelli, but Orogun too, will experience rapid growth. With the Federal Polytechnic and the Defence Space School located there, Orogun is already on the path to transformation.”

He added that Orogun’s prominence was already notable, given its distinguished sons such as the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJ. “My prayer is that many more from Orogun will rise to such greatness. May God continue to bless and prosper the kingdom. Ishegware,” he said.

The visit, marked by mutual respect and optimism, reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies in sustaining peace and encouraging development across Delta State.
